Welcome to The Dry Skin Expo-- a health & beauty skincare sanctuary designed exclusively for skin treatment for dry skin. Born from my own struggles with dry and sensitive skin, I founded The Dry Skin Expo to be the resource that I couldn't find. Hi, my name is S. Fitzgerald and this is my passion project & muse-- What started as a personal reference has grown into a dedicated resource for those seeking skin products for dry skin challenges that will nourish and beautify from the inside out.

.Due to chronic stress and past trauma, my skin started showing signs of premature aging well before my 20s. Stress can take a toll on skin health, and I felt it firsthand-- dealing with early fine lines and breakouts.

Alongside the dryness and sensitivity, I've faced (and face) psoriasis flare-ups that often leave my skin cracked and raw. It's hard when others don't understand, and I've even had people ask if I'd been burned (I keep a tally mark now). Not wanting to rely on biologics, I dedicated myself to soothing my skin with carefully chosen skincare--even if it doesn't mean a complete cure, but rather 'better psoriasis days' where my skin feels calmer and looks more normal.

Growing up, I would go through the isles of the local drugstores and beauty stores wondering why everything I tried would burn my face... but the world has evolved, and we've started to learn that the way cosmetics were formulated back in the day were subpar and filled with all kinds of toxic chemicals, to say the least. As I grew older and resources became available, I started catalouging information-- something I've always been rather good at & have always loved to do. It helps me make sense of the world, and not get lost. I created this as a reference for myself, and decided to share and allow others enjoy and benefit from it. When you purchase from The Dry Skin Expo, as opposed to the bigger guys, you're helping to support and fund the manual labor and grunt work that went into researching the ingredients of every product. .
I personally check each product for certain criteria before adding it to our inventory. The bare minimum checked for are as follows:

We scourge all of your favorite products from all of your favorite designers and brands with the promise that no product makes it to our shelves without meeting strict, skin-friendly criteria. If a product could worsen even two or three of these concerns, we don’t carry it. I’ve dedicated thousands of hours to researching ingredients, analyzing concentrations, and assessing pH levels. Each product is reviewed not only for its effectiveness but for its gentleness and compatibility with dry, sensitive skin.
After analyzing the product for these key factors, which involves whether or not we estimate any ingredients that may be irritating for any of the above are in strong enough concentration in the product to offset a flare to a concerning degree, we then may also analyze:
-Antifungal properties
-Anti-inflammatory score
-How close the product is to a pH of 4.7, the skin's perfect pH soulmate match.

For countless days, I found myself battling depression and psoriatic arthritis, leaving me too overwhelmed to work. I was in a state of dorsal vagal shutdown and grappling with neurodivergent burnout. During this challenging time, I spent up to 18 hours a day on my computer and phone, scrolling through skincare products online, desperately hoping to find a solution that would help me feel better about myself. My employers often urged me to "do something" about my skin, but I felt stuck, wishing I could just fix it or daydreaming about transforming my appearance.
In my late-night hours of insomnia, I dove deep into skincare ingredient analysis, seeking a routine that could not only improve my skin but also boost my confidence. This journey took me from browsing major beauty supplier websites to exploring local health food stores in search of the perfect products.
Initially motivated by my struggles, I gradually transformed my obsession into a hobby. Skincare became a passion that brought me joy amid my challenges. There were definitely both good and bad days, but I often found myself oscillating between a love-hate relationship with my skincare journey. At times, it felt overwhelming; yet, my thirst for knowledge kept me pushing forward.
I thrive on understanding the details of every product on the shelf, and if a product makes it onto my radar, I want to share it with others who might benefit. Starting this shop has been a significant step for me, shaped by my own journey through self-doubt and a scarcity mindset. For so long, I lived with the belief that my skin was somehow "cursed," a belief that left me accepting poor skin as just part of who I was. I’d convinced myself that even if I did launch my shop, demand would be so high that I’d be left empty-handed, unable to benefit from the very products I believe in so much.
However, I’ve decided to take that leap and share what I know can truly make a difference. I’m passionate about providing high-quality products that I genuinely believe in, and I’m excited to offer you a selection that reflects this commitment.
